This wine bar is the perfect place for happy hour, before and after dinner drinks or just the middle of the afternoon get together. The environment is New York chic meets Montana, but don’t be intimidated, it is a down-to-earth, unpretentious venue for people to relax and sip on their favorite wine.
The tasting room includes wines by the glass or a selection of wine flights. If you are into wine and food pairings, they have cheese and meat plates with house made crackers, dips and spiced nuts. If wine isn’t your thing, not to fear they also serve craft beer, focusing on little known foreign brews and local favorites on tap and for sale.
If you’re on the go or invited to a dinner party, fill up a wine growler. Yes, I just said wine growler. They have wine on tap and a beautiful growler to take it home in. In addition to wine on tap, there is also a bottle shop which offers a broad selection of wine varieties and price points, starting at $10 a bottle.
The masterminds behind this new venue are Jill Roberts and Colleen Casey. Jill has over 16 years of experience as a sommelier and beverage director in New York City. She is thrilled to bring her passion for wine back to her home town of Helena. Colleen is also a native of Helena with a career in the retail and service industry. Colleen credits her mother as her biggest influence as she raised Colleen to celebrate every occasion. Opening The Hawthorn Bottle Shop and Tasting Room with her niece and sommelier, Jill, is another celebration in their shared circle of life.
