AboutCollage

Montana is too big to digest in one sitting. The Last Best Plates shares all of the delicious stories, places, and people of Montana…one plate at a time. The overall focus is food and travel, but with many other tidbits that give the full flavor of life under the Big Sky.

I’m Lynn Donaldson-Vermillion — a fourth-generation Central Montana farm girl-turned photojournalist. My camera has taken me all over the world, but my home will always be here. I created this blog as a love letter to my home state, inviting friends from every corner to share their local knowledge and help me tell its stories. Some are food & travel writers, others are photographers, and some are just plain passionate about food and cooking. All have a keen eye for what makes The Last Best Place special and are sources I rely on for local knowledge when I travel.

Come along with us as we visit wheat fields & cherry orchards, sheep barns, grocery stores, and farmhouse kitchens. We’ll introduce you to pasty makers, the owners of Big Dipper Ice Cream, and chefs from Absarokee to Zortman. We’ll share recipes, tell you about cool Montana-made products and even have a few contests along the way. This is going to be fun!
