Welcome Back, Sleeping Buffalo

It’s back, restored, open, and amazing. What you ask? Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs. Located on Montana’s highway 2 between Malta and Saco, on the shores of Nelson Reservoir. After being run down a mismanaged for years, a fresh set of owners decided to take the plunge and restored the springs to its former glory. Not just a facelift, a whole rebuild! New tile, pumps, sauna, weight room, and more to come. Enjoy a soak in the hot pool then cool off in the frigid cold dip tub. My family’s inaugural visit was greeted by nothing but smiles from the staff and the other swimmers. The pools are large enough that even on the busy days you still feel you have room to relax and soak up the joy.

A friendly tip… bring some snacks with you. They do offer a selection of drinks and food but the restaurant is not done yet. A great trip might be a day of ice fishing on Nelson Reservoir, then warm back up in the hot springs. Finish it off with off dinner and games at Stretch’s Pizza in Malta or if you are heading east, at the newly reopened Sam’s Supper Club in Glasgow.
